Bedtime story

              G

I`ve  told you almost every bedtime story,

                                                                       D

and you`ve  heard almost every nursery rhyme.

              C

So tonight before you go to sleep,

             G                            E

and pray the Lord, your soul to keep,

                  A                            D     D7             G

here`s mommy`s favourite story one more time.

   G

1.        Once upon a time there was a castle,

                                                               D

and in  this castle lived a king and queen.

                C

And it came to pass they both were blessed

     G                  E

    by one little blue-eyed princess

                   A                                                  D   - D7

with the softest golden curls you`ve ever seen.

             G

2. But then one day he met this pretty lady,

                                                             D

and she had lots of pretty words to say.

             C

And this part makes your mommy sad,

       G                         E

`cause all what beguiled she had,

                    A                          D                   G  - C - G

and she took his hand and led him far away.

  C                  D                       G

Still it`s just another bedtime story,

       D                      D7                     G      - G7

but telling it brings teardrops to my eyes.

  C                   D                     G

Just another pretty bedtime story,

                                D                      G

so please, forgive mommy, if she cries.

3. Then it came to pass the king grew lonely,

                                                            D

and the pretty lady wasn`t all she seemed.

            C

He realized that he was wrong,

              G                     E

and started his long journey home,

                 A                                                   D

for he missed his little princess and his queen.

              G

4. Then he was back and safe inside his castle,

                                                                    D

and tears of joy came falling down like rain.

       C

Then the castle rang with laughter,

       G                       E

    they lived happy ever after.

     A                            D                   G  - C - G

No, and he would never leave again.

+ CHORUS   + C

                     G                            D                    C   - G

Won`t you please forgive your mommy if she cries.
