                  G                                   F

There's something special 'bout six o'clock,

                 G                                    F

in the morning when it's still too early to knock,

                   E                          Am

and the dusky light shines down on the block,

                E                                      Am

and reflects up and down on the hands of the clock,

      F                                     ~

     six o'clock, six o'clock.

   G                        E                               Am

1.    A few hours ago she was standing here,

                                   C

just watching the stars in our eyes,

                   D                                     G

and the lights as the tights disappeared.

                       Em                                E

And I could feel I could say what I wanted,

                       Am                                      - A

that I could nudge her and call her my          confidante.

             G                D                            C             G

And now I'm all alone with just my shadow in front,

         F

    at six o'clock, six o'clock

   G                                E                                          Am

2.      I went home and found that time to sleep was rare,

                                C                                D                                     G

just watching my eyelids, knowing my brain bids the night not to care.

            Em                             E

I got up and got scufflin' around,

                    Am                             A

but somehow it just wasn't the same happy town

                   G              D                  C                  G

and the bells didn't ring with the same happy sound,

         F

    at six o'clock, six o'clock.

F                        G                     - F                             G

If I go back where we parted,      could I ever feel like that again ?

F                                      G                       - D

Guess I'll just have to wait 'til tomorrow,       but what can I do 'til then?

   G                                E                                    Am

3.    Guess I'll go back home and just wait until dawn,

                          C                                          D                              G

yes, I had to learn going back where we were wouldn't help at all.

              Em                                                E

And I wish my head had been working right,

                       Am                         A

we'd have gone for coffee and talked all night,

             G                    D                 C            G

and now I'm back alone, bein' twisted up tight,

     F

    six o'clock, six o'clock.

      G                    D         - C - G

    Now I'm back alone !

             G                     D       - C - G
